The last update to your GIS application brought a few additions which allow you more control over how you see your map. Today, we’ll show you how to add/modify labels on your features.
Open up your layer list and find a layer you’d like to add labels to. For this example, we’re going to use water mains.
Click the arrow to the right of the layer to bring up additional options. In here, we’ll click “Customize Labels”. If you don’t see that option, there’s one of two problems:
- We are in the process of rolling out this feature to all maps we host. Let us know and we’ll expedite this process for you!
- Some layers in your site are hosted by 3rd parties who do not yet support this technology.
Click “Customize”, and you should get some options to add/customize labels.
Choose a field to display and click Apply. As you can see above, the water main layer now shows the attribute field “AsbuiltLength” above water mains. This new feature is useful for viewing at-a-glance info about your mapped data. Give it a try on your other features and see how you can match it to your needs!
