The tree tool is a simple and convenient tool that allows you to add trees in your GIS system. With the tree tool, you can stay up to date by tracking attributes such as tree height, diameter, crown spread, and much more!
To begin, click the Add Tree button located under the Public Works tab. After specifying the location where you would like to add a tree, click submit.
Next, the dashboard will appear where you can specify details such as the condition of the tree, pruning and treatment needs, dead wood and more. In addition, you can check a variety of special conditions in order to better track your tree.
Once you have finished entering all the details for your tree, you can click update and exit out of the dashboard. Your tree will then be displayed on the map. Depending on your specification, the tree may appear as any of the following symbols:
Brown dot: Stump
Green dot: Vacant Area
Green & bushy: Deciduous
Green & pointy: Conifer
Red & bushy: Genus Fraxinus –To visualize emerald ash borer vulnerabilities
This is a convenient way to visually identify trees on your map based on their attributes. Additionally, queries based on special conditions or due dates can help you quickly find trees needing attention.
That’s it for this #TipTuesday. Make sure to tune in next week to learn about the Tree Maintenance Tool!
