What do you do when you forget your GIS account password? Personally, I just knock on my office wall and yell “Scott! Can you please reset my password?!” He hates this, because I can reset it myself. And so can you! Here’s how:
Go to your GIS portal page and click the “Log In” button. This’ll take you to the familiar login screen shown below.
That “Forgot Password” link is the first step on your brief journey to resetting your password. Click it, and you’ll be taken to a page to enter your username and security question. Once they’re entered, click “Reset Password”. A couple of things to note here:
- After typing in your username, click anywhere else on the page. This will retrieve your security question.
- If you’re not given a security question or if your security question doesn’t work, then contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
If things went well, then you should be notified that a message was sent to your email account. Check your inbox, and click the big “Reset Password” button in the message. You will be taken to the page below where you can enter a new password. After clicking “Change Password”, you’re all done! Password changed. Crisis averted.
