If you need to print a map for your records, just follow these simple steps.
First, turn on/off any layers and zoom to the area you want in your printed map. There are two places in the application where you can print, the first location is in the Draw & Print tab, and the second location is within the I Want To menu.
Click the print button in either of those two locations and the next popup will open.
Select the desired layout. By default you should have the options for 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17 in portrait or landscape. The default output format is a PDF. Depending on the selected layout, you might have additional output formats for jpg, bmp, png and other image formats.
The resolution is normal by default. Changing it to high (if available) will increase the time it takes to generate the print.
Map Scale allows you to select a pre-defined scale or print with the current map scale, which is based on the current extent. The default value is a factor of 12. So in the example above, 10,703/12 = 891.92 would be close to a standard 1 inch = 1,000 foot scale.
Next, enter a map title and sub title. Finally, just click “print” to generate the map. After a few moments, you’ll be notified when it’s ready and you can click “open file” to save it or view it.
