When you have an issue with your GIS, do you know how to get help? Or what to do if you see an error message? This week, we’ll be exploring the “Report a Problem” function. It’s the most reliable way to get help quickly.
With the “Report a Problem” function, each developer and most GIS staff will be notified of your report. This means if your usual contact is out for the day or in a meeting, there will still be someone available to address your report.
So “Report a Problem” is great and all…but where is it? The bottom of every portal page has a “Report a Problem” link. See it in the image below? Great. Let’s click it!
Here is what you’ll see if you were to click “Report a Problem” on your portal page:
To get your issue addressed, just fill out the form and click “Submit.”
Issue: What problem are you having? Please explain it in a few words.
Example: “Cannot open Manhole details”
Attach file: Attach a screenshot or file related to your report.
Description: How do we reproduce your issue? Are there any details we should know?
Example: “Manhole with ID 30-102 doesn’t open details, but 30-104 does”
Name: Who are you? It’s just nice to know your name.
Email: Please leave an email address. We want to be able to get back to you about your report. We might have questions or need more information. At the very least, we’d like to be able to let you know when your issue is resolved.
So now you know how to use “Report a Problem”. But what if THAT isn’t working? When push comes to shove, you can always contact GISSupport@ruekert-mielke.com. And if you have something urgent, a call to our office at (262) 542-5733 will always get you immediate assistance!
